Dr. Kimberly Deugwillo
Dr. Kimberly Deugwillo joined The National Retina Institute's Center for Vision Rehabilitation as its Low Vision doctor of optometry. She works closely with NRI's Low Vision Ophthalmologist and Occupational Therapists to develop and implement specialized patient training to promote independence.
Dr. Deugwillo received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where she graduated with honors. She then graduated from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, where she graduated with high honors. During her optometric training at PCO, she also went through the Masters program in Low Vision and Rehabilitation. Dr. Deugwillo received the Noir Low Vision Award and Conforma Laboratory Award upon graduation from PCO. Her post-graduate residency at The Eye Institute of PCO provided Dr. Deugwillo with rotations in areas such as emergency, neuro-ophthalmology, low vision, retinal services and oculo-plastics, which exposed her to a wide variety of patients with varying needs. She completed intensive fellowship training with Donald C. Fletcher, M.D., focusing on his approach to rehabilitation of the visually impaired. Dr. Deugwillo is a member of the American Optometric Association, American Academy of Optometry, and the Pennsylvania Optometric Association.
