Dr. Valla Djafari
Dr. Valla Djafari is a surgeon and vitreoretinal specialist at The National Retina Institute. He is a specialist in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of diabetic retinopathy, vascular occlusive disease, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, and ocular trauma.
Dr. Djafari's current studies and research interests include surgical and pharmacological treatments for diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and vascular occlusive disease.
Dr. Djafari graduated from Dartmouth College in 1992 with a B.A. in Biochemistry and Psychology. He earned his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical School in Philadelphia. Dr. Djafari then completed his internship at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas, followed by residency training in ophthalmology at Tulane University in New Orleans. Following residency training, Dr. Djafari undertook a fellowship program in vitreoretinal surgery at The Foundation for Retinal Research in New Orleans, headed by Dr. Kurt Gitter.
He is board certified in ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He holds active memberships with The American Society of Retina Specialists and The American Academy of Ophthalmology.
